Dry easterly winds will continue today and tomorrow across the mountains and valleys. As of 4 a.m. Thursday winds across areas like Alpine, Sunrise Highway, and Buckman Springs had wind gusts from 40-50 miles per hour.

Winds will gradually weaken throughout the day, but the dry air is sticking around, and therefore, so is the risk for fast spreading fires. Humidity levels across the valleys are expected to be at or below 10 percent by this afternoon, emphasizing the concern for developing wildfire conditions.

We have a RED FLAG WARNING for San Diego's inland valleys through Thursday evening, and the mountains until Friday morning.

Other than some cold overnights due to the dry air and lack of overnight cloud cover, the rest of the week will be uneventful.

THURSDAY

  • Coast: sunny - less breezy - low 70s
  • Valleys: RED FLAG WARNING - mid to upper 70s
  • Mountains: RED FLAG WARNING, cool temps - low to mid-50s
  • Desert: sunny, mid to upper 60s
