A DENSE FOG ADVISORY will be in place through 10 a.m. for our coastal communities. The dense fog still impacts SD International and Coronado where visibility is down to ¼-1 mile.
Foggy and cloudy skies will linger at most of the coastline throughout the morning and into the afternoon as a trough of low pressure over the west coast moves south. This will also bring breezy to gusty westerly winds over the desert region that could range from 15-35 mph.
We’re on track to have cooler daytime highs on Saturday as the trough to our north continues its path. There is also another chance for fog late tonight through tomorrow morning for the coast.
While Saturday starts with some clouds, easterly winds will return in the forecast by the late afternoon. Again, some of our wind-prone areas like Pine Valley could start to have gusts from 20 mph, which will continue into Sunday morning. This will warm up our Sunday daytime highs and potentially bring temperatures 4-7 degrees above their seasonal norms.

There’s still a possibility of a stronger Santa Ana wind event Tuesday-Thursday next week, bringing elevated fire danger back into the forecast.
Our dry streak will also continue in the New Year. We have gone three weeks since our last measurable rain at San Diego's airport, and we're not expecting any in the coming days. We have gotten just 5% of our normal seasonal rainfall.
Statewide, California is doing much better with moisture than we are in San Diego. The first snow pack measurement of the new year took place on Thursday. The Sierra is currently sitting at 108% of normal which is good news for the entire state.
