After a very comfortable first week of Fall, hot weather is on the way back. A prolonged heat wave will bring temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal for inland areas.

The dense fog is also back this morning along the coast and over the inland valleys, so drivers should be prepared to increase following distance on the roads.

Morning temperatures for the valleys and coast are from the 50s and 60s, a nice cool start to the morning ahead of what will be a hot day east of the coast.

An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING will be in place for our inland valleys and deserts 10 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday night.

A HEAT ADVISORY will be in effect from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening for the mountains.

Temperatures may be a few degrees cooler for Thursday and Friday, but then hotter again for the weekend.

The coastal communities will be much cooler than our inland areas over the next couple of days. Peak temps over downtown will be right around the mid to upper 70s for the Padres games over the next few days at Petco Park.

  • Inland: mostly sunny - 90s to low 100s
