The heat wave is under way, but you may not know it in some parts of San Diego.
Dense fog, and stubborn clouds are dominating the beaches, keeping temperatures down in the 60s and 70s.
Meantime, inland areas are running about 30 degrees warmer than the coast. San Diego's inland valleys were upgraded to an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING through Thursday evening and highs will be about 15 to 20 degrees above normal. The same warning is also in effect for the deserts during that timeframe.
A HEAT ADVISORY will be in effect through Thursday evening for the mountains.

Temperatures may be a few degrees cooler for Thursday and Friday, but then hotter again for the weekend.
