San Diego weather: Strong Santa Ana winds, and high fire danger

NBC 7's team of meteorologists provides the most accurate 10-day forecast in San Diego. Here's what you need to know about today's weather.

NBCUniversal Media, LLC A daily video forecast from NBC 7's First Alert weather team.

Dry offshore winds will continue overnight and into Thursday morning. We've had gusts of stronger than 55mph and relative humidity down into the single digits. So, fire danger remains critical.

Winds will gradually weaken throughout the day Thursday, but the dry air is sticking around, and therefore, so is the risk for fast spreading fires.

We have a RED FLAG WARNING for San Diego's inland valleys through Thursday evening, and the mountains until Friday morning.

Other than some cold overnights due to the dry air and lack of overnight cloud cover, the rest of the week will be uneventful.

THURSDAY

  • Coast: sunny - less breezy - low 70s
  • Valleys: RED FLAG WARNING - mid to upper 70s
  • Mountains: RED FLAG WARNING, cool temps - low to mid 50s
  • Desert: sunny, mid to upper 60s
