A Ventura County wildfire that burned several homes in Moorpark and Camarillo flared up Thursday morning as flames pushed north toward Santa Paula.

While investigators are looking for an exact cause, they do believe the blaze began near a homeless encampment, reports NBC 7’s Shelby Bremer.

One of the neighborhoods forced to evacuate was the Talmadge area. Residents along Lucille Drive scrambled to get out of harm’s way as the fire climbed the canyon. NBC 7’s Dave Summers has their story.

NBC 7’s Todd Strain has the latest on the fire that sparked around 1:30 p.m. in the College Area. 

NBC 7’s Dave Summers spoke with residents who were in the mandatory evacuation zone when the Fairemont Fire spread through the College Area. 

A brush fire in the College Area grew quickly Thursday afternoon and was threatening structures in the area.

The goats may be deployed for brush clearing more often in the future, according to a city spokesman. NBC 7’s Joe Little reports.

Some residents were evacuated after a brush fire ignited in the Poway neighborhood of San Diego on Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The fire in Hillcrest began after 3 p.m. and is burning near where state Route 163 intersects with University Avenue.

The fire is burning in the 600 block of Otay Lakes Road, across the street from Bonita Vista Middle School and northwest of Southwestern College.
