A National City high school senior died after he was hit by a car while riding his bike to school last week. Edgar de Haro was remembered at Sweetwater High School’s graduation ceremony on Wednesday.

Edgar de Haro was hit by a car while riding his bike to Sweetwater High School in National City. Two days later, Edgar’s condition worsened and doctors told his family he was brain dead. His mother on Wednesday attended his graduation ceremony and accepted Edgar’s diploma on his behalf.

A National City family is honoring their son after a car hit him on his way to school, just ahead of his birthday and his high school graduation.

National City’s City Council voted in favor of an ordinance update that will allow them to team up with other businesses and sell food outside their facilities.
