For reasons still unknown, authorities say a woman crashed into one officer, backed up and drove again to try and hit two more in a police department parking lot. NBC 7’s Dave Summers reports.

Just prior to the shooting, officers were holding a retirement ceremony inside the building, El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells said.

El Cajon residents were informed by police Friday that they can now keep informed about police activity in their neighborhoods by using a new web-based technology called Citizen Connect on their mobile phones or computers with internet access.

Police said witnesses told them the truck never stopped after it hit the victim on Sunday afternoon.

A tanker truck transporting some 8,800 gallons of gasoline overturned Wednesday at an intersection near Grossmont College, spilling fuel onto the roadway and forcing residential evacuations, along with a precautionary power shutoff in the area.
