Owners of local businesses say parking was very limited even before the bike lanes were installed in July, but since then it’s only gotten worse

Convoy Street drivers and bikers are having mixed reactions to the added bike lanes in the district. 

Big changes could be coming to parking in what is now a very popular and crowded Convoy District.

Recently, the San Diego City Council approved the formation of various parking districts across the county. The Convoy District Partnership is expected to soon sign a contract that will allow it to manage parking in Kearny Mesa. NBC 7’s Todd Strain explains.

There are even fewer parking spaces along Convoy Street in San Diego since the city has completed one phase of a plan to install bike lanes.

Round and round they go through the parking lots and the streets of Kearny Mesa. When some convoy district customers will find parking, none of them know.

San Diego began resurfacing Convoy Street Tuesday night as part of a larger effort to revitalize the Kearny Mesa area, but the plan is receiving some criticism from locals.

With the resurfacing, some people in Convoy look forward to new biking lanes, while others criticize eliminating 288 parking spaces. NBC 7’s Nicole Gomez has the latest.
