Week 1 of the 2023 NFL regular season has come and gone, and the league has treated its fans to an exciting slate of games to get things going.
It all began with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Detroit Lions in the NFL’s annual Kickoff Game, where Dan Campbell's squad pulled off the 21-20 upset.
The action continued with a whopping 14 games on Sunday: eight in the 1 p.m. ET window, five at 4:25 p.m. ET and Sunday Night Football to close things out.
There was plenty of excitement in the early window, with the Washington Commanders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints picking up one-score victories. Elsewhere, the San Francisco 49ers made a statement with their blowout win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

In the late afternoon, the New England Patriots welcomed Tom Brady back to Foxboro for their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, but couldn't show him a win as Philly triumphed 25-20. The new-look Green Bay Packers faced the Chicago Bears and made it nine wins in a row while the Miami Dolphins topping the Los Angeles Chargers 36-34 in an offensive thriller.
Additionally, Jimmy Garoppolo led a late comeback to make it seven wins in a row for the Las Vegas Raiders over the Denver Broncos and Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams dominated Seattle 30-13 on the road without Cooper Kupp.
Sunday’s slate wrapped up with a familiar NFC East rivalry when the Dallas Cowboys took on the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football, also on NBC and Peacock. But it was far from a close contest, as Dallas drubbed New York 40-0 in a complete performance.

Week 1 concluded with another primetime game at MetLife Stadium when Aaron Rodgers made his New York Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. But Rodgers left early with an ankle injury, prompting a battle of Josh Allen vs. Zach Wilson. It was the latter who prevailed 22-16 in a defensive affair.
