The San Diego Chargers have parted with their longest-tenured player.
Pro Bowl long snapper David Binn, who set team records with 179 consecutive games played during a 17-season career, has been released, a team spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday.
The 39-year-old, a fan favorite for both his consistency, longevity and character, was the only remaining player from the franchise's lone Super Bowl appearance in 1994. He appeared in a franchise-record 256 games played.
Mike Windt, 26, will replace Binn as the team's long snapper.
