The New Horizons mission to visit Pluto is "a triumph of engineering and the laws of physics," famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson told NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt on Tuesday, the day the NASA probe flew past Pluto. The mission team is waiting for a signal from the probe to confirm it completed its journey past the dwarf planet, but it has already sent back to Earth the most detailed images of Pluto ever recorded. New Horizons took a 3 billion-mile journey that Tyson compared to "threading a needle from New York to Los Angeles."
