A day after what appeared to be a fetus or baby was found dead in a freezer in a South Boston apartment, police announced that more apparent human remains have been found.
Homicide detectives were at the home again on East Broadway Friday and "located what appears to be additional human remains, which were removed by personnel from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigation," Boston police said in a statement.
No arrests had been announced as the investigation stretched into its second day.
The incident remains under investigation by police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 617-343-4470.

As police resumed the investigation Friday morning, detectives were seen putting crime scene tape around the building, near Medal of Honor Park.

Property records obtained by NBC10 Boston indicate there are nine units in the building, and the unit under investigation is a one bedroom apartment. The building itself is located on a street corner, surrounded by a park, a church and several families with children watching the investigation unfold in their neighborhood.
The medical examiner's team carefully removed a container from the building that was only about three feet long. It could be an indication of the size or condition of the additional human remains that homicide detectives found there Friday afternoon.
Neighbors said they were stunned and saddened to watch investigators going in and out of the home to an upstairs unit.
"Just terrible, and what kind of situation somebody would be in just to have something come to that is awful," Jack Nolan said. "It's certainly not reflective of this neighborhood or South Boston at all."
"You just hope and pray for humanity, pray for the family that lost the kid, and your heart goes out to that child," Eric Teschemacher said.
"How did it happen? How long have they been there? All those things, just so many questions," Amy Murphy said.
"Obviously nothing like this has ever happened at least in the time that I’ve lived here so its kind of surreal," another neighbor said.
"It's really just awful to think about and just to know that it was right net door," added Kate Reilly. "Definitely chilling and haunting to see."
A Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman initially told NBC10 Boston the investigation centered around "a possible fetus or infant found in a freezer," but didn't release any more details Thursday, with Boston police confirming officers responded to a call around 2:15 p.m. to investigate.
There is still no word on who called 911. An investigation is active and ongoing.
