Mobile home destroyed in Riverside County brush fire

A brush fire in Riverside County’s Homeland community has prompted evacuation orders. Christian Cazares reports for the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024.

One home was destroyed Friday when a vegetation fire consumed a little over 70 acres of land in Riverside County.

About 20 to 30 homes were ordered to evacuate in wake of the Hills Fire, which was reported at 2:11 p.m. near Juniper Flats Road and Mapes Road in the area of Homeland. By about 8:30 p.m., that order was downgraded to an evacuation warning.

One mobile home was destroyed by the blaze, authorities said.

As of 8:30 p.m., 25% of the blaze was contained. Two people and one firefighter were hospitalized with minor injuries.
