PD: Missing Woman May Have Crashed in Mexico

El Cajon resident Anne Louise Terhune, 61, was last seen Tuesday evening

El Cajon resident Anne Louise Terhune has been missing for three days and police believe she may have gone to Mexico. Her husband says he’s baffled by her disappearance and worried for Terhune’s safety. NBC 7’s Rory Devine reports.

An El Cajon woman missing since Tuesday may have been involved in a traffic collision in Mexico, police confirmed Friday.

Anne Louise Terhune, 61, was last seen around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. Her family told police Terhune left to go to the Fletcher Hills Branch Library, but never came home. They reported her missing later that night.

On Thursday, police confirmed Terhune’s car was seen crossing the border into Mexico Tuesday night. However, the woman’s family said this would be out of character for Terhune.

Now, El Cajon Police detectives say Terhune may have been involved in a non-injury collision in Tijuana.

According to detectives, Terhune was alone at the time of the crash, but stated she was lost and provided her personal information. Detectives say she indicated she would be home the following day, and did not appear to be under any duress.

However, as of 4 p.m. Friday, Terhune had not returned home and her whereabouts remain unknown.

The El Cajon Police Department is now working with the San Diego County Sheriff’s International Liaison Unit to locate Terhune and determine if she needs help.

Terhune is described as 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was driving a gold 2004 Mercury Marquis, similar to the one pictured here, with license plate 5KLY673.

She sang with the Choral Club of San Diego for many years, the club's president confirmed to NBC 7 San Diego.

Anyone with information is asked to call El Cajon police at (619) 579-3320 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
