Four cities will ask voters today to approve tax increases while one municipality is proposing the repeal of a previous tax boost.
Del Mar has proposed to raise its hotel room tax from 10.5% to as much as 13%. El Cajon has proposed a half-cent sales tax increase. Encinitas has proposed a special 2% hotel tax on vacation rentals of less than 30 days. La Mesa has proposed raising its sales tax by $.75.
The one and only city seeking to repeal a tax is National City. If the proposed measure is approved, a $.01 sales tax enacted two years ago would go away.
