Police are trying to get to the bottom of a drive-by shooting that injured a teenager in the Rolando neighborhood Monday.
SDPD investigators are trying to determine if road rage was a motive in the shooting, which sent a 19-year-old man to Scripps Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Doctors took “life-saving measures” to save the teen’s life and he is expected to survive, according to Sgt. Kevin Gibson.
Authorities said the young victim parked his car and exited the vehicle as a silver Dodge Charger drove by. Police said as the Charger passed by, the victim pointed a gun toward it and someone in that vehicle fired one round at the teen, hitting him in the neck.

When officers first arrived at the scene on the 4300 block of Alamo Drive, they found the victim with a "through and through gunshot wound to his neck," SDPD said in a statement. A Gang Unit detective responded to the incident and didn’t discover any gang-related clues. Gibson said.
The incident was first reported as a “person down” at around 6 p.m., according to Gibson. The caller came out of their house on Alamo Drive and saw a person on the ground covered in blood.
Authorities said the teen received surgery for his injuries and is expected to survive. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting and the occupants of the Dodge remain sought.
