The San Diego Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify and locate a suspect involved in a double homicide in City Heights.
According to investigators, an unknown man – along with several other unknown suspects – gunned down three people back on Jun. 30 in a parking lot in City Heights.
The suspect shot and killed Rickquese McCoy, 18, and Stephen McClendon, 34, in the 2600 block of 44th Street around 11 p.m. that night.
A third victim, a 20-year-old man, was critically injured. He underwent surgery and is still recovering from the shooting.
Investigators said McCoy, McClendon and a third victim were standing outside an apartment on 44th Street when three black males dressed in dark clothing approached them on foot. The suspects allegedly fired multiple rounds at the victims before fleeing in a silver sedan westbound on Maple Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered McCoy and McClendon on the street, both suffering from life-threatening injuries. The third victim was discovered in a nearby alley with serious injuries.
All three victims were transported to local trauma centers, but McCoy and McClendon did not survive, police said.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the deadly shooting.
On Thursday, police released a description and sketch of one of the shooting suspects. This suspect is described as a black male in his mid to late-30s. He’s 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with a husky build and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and armed with a handgun.
