1 dead after crash near SR-163 in Miramar area, police say

One person was killed after a crash involving two cars in Miramar on Nov. 11, 2024.

At least one person died after a two-vehicle crash near southbound state Route 163 in the Miramar area on Monday night, police said.

A woman, 66, driving a Toyota Highlander was turning left onto 6700 Kearny Villa Road when a woman, 49, driving a Ford F-450 truck failed to stop at a red light at Kearny Villa Road and the northbound SR-163 off-ramp and broadsided the 66-year-old woman, police said.

The 66-year-old woman was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

DUI is not considered a factor in the crash, SDPD said.

Southbound SR-163 was closed north of the Kearny Villa Road on-ramp but reopened just before 11 p.m., Caltrans San Diego said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
