3 Bodies Found in Car's Trunk in Bay Terraces

NBC 7’s Erika Cervantes has the latest.

Three bodies were found in the trunk of a car in the Bay Terraces neighborhood of San Diego Sunday prompting a police investigation.

"You can smell the stench of death," said resident Lucille Martin.

The San Diego Police Department received a call around 5 p.m. about a suspicious car parked at the 2000 block of Jamie Avenue in Bay Terraces.

Martin watched officers investigate from across the street.

"They roped off the place. The car was parked right outside my neighbor’s house. And I don’t know who even reported it,” she said.

Officers opened the trunk to find the bodies of two women and a man inside.

The victims appeared to be in their early 20s or late teens but no other identifying information was known due to the conditions of the bodies, according to police.

NBC 7 obtained video of the suspicious car -- a silver older model BMW with a Texas license plate -- at the scene of the investigation. It's trunk was cracked open as officers taped off the scene.

San Diego police homicide detectives responded to the scene and are handling the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call SDPD or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
