A teenager died from a gunshot wound and San Diego police homicide investigators are looking for witnesses and evidence at two scenes located miles apart.
The San Diego Police Department confirmed the death of a teenager brought to the Sharp Coronado Hospital at around 7:30 p.m.
Fernando Rosas-Sanchez, 17, was suffering from a gunshot wound when he was brought to the emergency room, police said. Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel could not save him.
Homicide investigators questioned two companions of the victim who drove him to the hospital.
Investigators have determined the shooting took place on Olivewood Terrace, east of S. 36th Street and south of Ocean View Boulevard in Mountain View. The neighborhood is east of State Route 15 and south of Mt. Hope Cemetery.
SDPD Lt. Anthony Dupree said investigators were going door-to-door in the neighborhood questioning residents trying to gather information.
Police officers were also staged at the emergency room parking lot outside the hospital and had a section of the lot blocked off with crime tape.

Investigators were seen paying particular interest to a black Toyota Camry parked in the lot.
A woman who claims to be a relative of the victim showed up at the scene and told NBC 7 the car belonged to her cousin who she said drove the victim to the hospital.
