SDG&E shut off power to 83 homes in the East County Saturday morning as a precaution amid a weekend-long red flag warning and high wind advisory.
Officials with SDG&E said they shut down power to homes in Descanso, Guatay and Boulder Creek at around 6 a.m.
The decision was made after one of SDG&E's weather stations recorded wind gusts of up to 70 mph. Officials said crews were going to check power lines for possible wind damage.
SDG&E restored power to all the homes around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Customers were alerted to the possibility of a shutdown on Thursday through phone calls and emails because of the red flag warning, according to SDG&E officials.
The red flag warning is in effect through 6 p.m. Sunday
