SDG&E power outages affect thousands across San Diego County for hours

The outages in University Heights, North Park and Normal Heights were reported since Thursday night

Thousands of SDG&E customers were without electricity for hours on Friday as crews worked to repair equipment and restore power.

The outages at its peak affected about 2,700 SDG&E customers. More than 1,400 customers in University Heights, North Park and Normal Heights were reported without power late Thursday night, according to the SDG&E website. Another outage was reported in the same area at 10:40 a.m., affecting another 1,300-plus customers, according to the agency's outage map.

A separate power outage in the Encinitas area affected less than 100 customers and was restored around noon.

By 4 p.m., most customers who experienced power outages had their power restored, according to SDG&E's website.

Only 23 customers in the areas of Encinitas, Cardiff-By-The-Sea and Olivenhain were still without power by 4 p.m. on Friday.
