Sports Radio Host Scott Kaplan Fired

The former XX1090 AM host defended his comments saying "Scott and B.R." was a "guy show"

San Diego sports radio host Scott Kaplan is out of a job just one day after he stood by his comments about the appearance of a female basketball broadcaster.

XX 1090 AM announced Monday that Kaplan is no longer with the station and that his co-host Billy Ray Smith is considering future projects.

Kaplan made some derogatory comments about a Mountain West broadcaster on Jan. 25.

An article in the San Diego Union Tribune stoked the controversy by reporting Kaplan called Lloyd “a beast,” an “animal,” a “monster” and “a sasquatch of a woman.”

On Monday, Kaplan stood by those comments telling NBC San Diego “that’s what we do.”

“I don’t apologize for the fact that we’re a “guy show,” a locker room kind of show,” Kaplan said Monday. “There’s no apology for that.”

Sports radio vets Dave Palay and Jeff Dotseth took over the “Scott and B.R.” show’s slot Tuesday morning.
