Residents Rally for Dog Park in Normal Heights

Residents rallied for the completion of an off-leash dog park and community garden in Normal Heights Sunday.

According to the city’s website, the 24,000 square foot off-leash dog park, which also includes a community garden, was approved nearly a decade ago.

The park is slated to be near to Interstate 15 off of Adams Avenue in Normal Heights' Ward Canyon, according to the website.

Councilmember Todd Gloria, who attended the event, thanked Mid-City residents for attending a rally earlier in the day.

On the social media site Instagram, Gloria said, “So proud of @normalheights (Normal Heights) for today’s huge turn out in support of expanding Ward Canyon Park to include a dog park for the neighborhood! This rally sends a strong signal to City Hall that we need the funding necessary to construct this amenity in the next few years, not the next few decades.”
