San Diego police are asking for the community's help in looking for a man who managed to escape the custody of San Diego police VICE detectives in the Logan Heights area on Tuesday evening.
Dandre Lamonte Johnson, 27, was handcuffed and in-custody at the department's Central division station in Logan Heights when he managed to escape from police, Officer Lawanda Fisher confirmed.
Johnson was last seen at about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday running out the front door of San Diego Police Department's Central Division, according to police.
The fleeing man is described as about 6 feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with short, black hair in dreadlocks, and was last seen wearing a short-sleeve black shirt and black pants and black tennis shoes.

"Johnson was also secured with two pairs of handcuffs at the time of his escape," department spokesperson Lt. Dan Meyer confirmed.
Johnson had been arrested earlier Tuesday by the department's VICE unit prior to his escape.
Local
The department's VICE unit usually handles crimes related to prostitution, liquor law and gambling violations.
Johnson was held in an unsecured holding cell during "processing and further investigation," Meyer confirmed, but added officers were monitoring him.
According to a map published by the department, none of the city's newly-installed smart streetlight cameras are nearby the Logan Heights police station, the closest being nearly a half-a-mile away.
The department confirms however, they are utilizing these cameras as part of their search efforts for Johnson.
As of 7:30p.m. Wednesday, Johnson was still at large.
Those who may have information can report their tips anonymously to CrimeStoppers, Meyer said.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story identified the escapee as "Andre Johnson," according to what SDPD previously confirmed. The department Wednesday evening corrected the spelling of his name. The name has been updated in this article.
