Porcupette born in first-ever C-section birth at San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo has a new addition. A North American porcupine named Dakota has been born to mom Maizey at the zoo. Veterinarians helped Maizey along after she had complications in her pregnancy by performing the first-ever C-section birth for their species. This landmark operation could lead to better long-term survival rates of the species.
