This week on Politically Speaking, we sit down with the candidates running to represent San Diego City Council District 3, which includes Downtown, Little Italy, North Park and Hillcrest. Incumbent Stephen Whitburn and challenger Coleen Cusack sit down for one-on-one interviews with NBC 7 political reporter Joey Safchik. The issue that rises to the surface in both conversations is homelessness. The candidates represent a growing schism in the Democratic party about how to handle homelessness.
