Law enforcement arrested a woman and reopened Interstate 8 after all lanes in both directions were closed for "police activity," according to the California Highway Patrol.
All westbound I-8 lanes in the Mission Valley area were closed at around 4 p.m., and all eastbound I-8 lanes were shut down an hour later, CHP told NBC 7.
Law enforcement blocked off the roadways for "police activity," Caltrans said in a tweet. A woman was later taken into custody in connection to the incident that caused the closure, according to CHP.
Drivers reported major delays as crews rerouted traffic.
The northbound I-15 ramp to westbound I-8, the westbound I-8 ramp to southbound I-15, and southbound I-15 ramp to Camino Del Rio were also closed. They were reopened by 5:30 p.m., CHP said.
