A large search for a plane that was reported to have gone down off the coast of Carlsbad Wednesday afternoon was called off when the plane in question was located at Montgomery Field, the Carlsbad Police Department said.
Authorities were called at about 11 a.m. after a plane was believed to have gone down about 6 miles off the coast, Oceanside police said. At the scene, several response teams were spotted near the coast in North County.
But the report appeared to be a false alarm. The plane had landed safely at Montgomery Field airport in San Diego, the Carlsbad Police Department reported at about 1:40 p.m.
All people aboard were safe, CPD said.
