Community members cut the ribbon Friday for a new pedestrian bridge in Mission Bay.
The bridge will serve as a path over part of Mission Bay for pedestrians and bicyclists.
It will connect the existing bicycle network along Pacific Beach Drive to the bikeway at North Mission Bay Drive.
The bridge was dedicated in memory of Mike Gotch, a former councilman who created the original vision for the bridge.
"Beach lovers can finally bike around all of Mission Bay Park, one of San Diego's crown jewels," San Diego City Council President Pro Tem Kevin Faulconer said in a news release. "The completion of this bridge and dedication of it in memory of Mike Gotch is a wonderful addition to our beach community."
