One person was killed and another was injured Wednesday in a wrong-way crash on southbound Interstate 805 near the San Ysidro Port of Entry, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
California Highway Patrol said the crash near East San Ysidro Boulevard happened before 11:55 a.m. when a white car driven by a 29-year-old San Diegan was driving the wrong-way in southbound lanes of traffic. The vehicle crashed with a blue van and killed the driver, CHP said.
First responders pulled both drivers out of their vehicles with the survivor taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in the Hillcrest neighborhood, SDFD spokesperson Jose Ysea said.
The driver of the blue van died at the scene. He has not yet been identified.
