NBC 7 has the latest detail on the shooting in Mission Valley that left one dead.
The suspect believed to have killed one person and shot a second victim was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Mission Valley hotel where the shooting took place on Monday night, police said.
San Diego police say 29-year-old Kevin Larin is the person who shot two people at the Handlery Hotel at 950 Hotel Circle North around 8:20 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man, who was hit in the chest, in an interior hallway. He died at the scene, according to the San Diego Police Department. The second victim, a 23-year-old man who was struck in the arm, had been shot near the lobby. Police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Although the initial information given to the officers who responded was that the shooter had left in an unknown vehicle, that later proved to not be the case, SDPD homicide Lt. Lou Maggi said.
"Once [officers] had contacted the two shooting victims, they learned that the shooter had actually gotten into a dark-colored vehicle," Maggi said. "They then canvassed the lot and located that vehicle within the parking lot. They then realized that vehicle was occupied. Once they gathered all the necessary resources, they called that subject out of the vehicle, and he was taken into custody without incident."
Maggi said investigators were confident Larin was the shooter. He was booked into San Diego County Jail for murder, SDPD said.

Police have not yet released information regarding the relationship between Larin and the victims, if any, or the 19-year-old's name, pending family notification.
An NBC 7 crew at the scene of the shooting reported seeing a Bearcat and police with helmets, body armor, shields and weapons setting up around the hotel just before 11 p.m. on Monday. Guests were unable to enter the hotel due to police tape blocking off the lobby and parking lot.
Linnea Harris was visiting San Diego from Canada. She told NBC 7 she was looking for somewhere else to stay after her reservation at the hotel was canceled.
"It's just kind of nerve-wracking to think, you know, 'What am I going to do now?' I don't have a place to stay. I don't know if I can walk down the street. I don't know really what's going on," Harris said.
