A report of an attempted kidnapping by Lakeside Middle School Tuesday morning is unfounded, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.
A group of middle school students reported a hooded man driving an SUV tried to kidnap a boy Tuesday morning about a block away from Lakeside Middle School, according to the Lakeside Union School District.
Just after 8 a.m., the students said someone in the backseat opened the door and tried to grab one of them.

SDSO said there is no danger to the community and thanked the public for cooperation and understanding.
In a letter to parents, Lakeside Union School District Superintendent Rhonda Taylor asked parents to review child safety procedures if they are approached by strangers.
"As always, the best defense is to run from strangers to another adult while making lots of noise. It will be effective if you also review these procedures with your child," the superintendent wrote.
