Man suspected of watching women shower through College Area backyards

NBC Universal, Inc.

Authorities reached out to the public Thursday for help in identifying a peeping Tom who was spotted peering through a backyard window at a College-area residence last month, watching women take showers.

The victims of the Dec. 28 crime in the 5700 block of Dorothy Drive confronted the stranger when they realized that someone was spying on them, prompting him to run off, according to the San Diego Police Department.

"“I was completely creeped out," Jordan Grandy said. "I just see these two glowing eyes looking at me because it was completely dark."

Grandy wasn't in the shower but she was helping her friend turn on the water in the bathroom when she spotted the suspect. The video captured by her security camera is being used by SDPD.

The man, believed to be 30 to 40 years old, "appeared to be carrying his shoes and was possibly barefoot at the time of the incident," SDPD Officer Paul Dayes said.

SDPD said they're looking for a bearded, muscular man with a shaved head. He is believed to have been surreptitiously looking into the window of another home in the same neighborhood the previous night, according to police.

Surveillance video shows the man was in Grandy's backyard for four hours. At points, he could be seen with his shoes in hand, standing listening by the door.

"You can tell he is listening to everything we are saying because my friend said I am going to go take a shower and then there he is outside the window," Grandy said.

The landlord installed new locks and more cameras but the neighborhood is still on high alert.

“I haven’t been staying at the house because I have been so creeped out," Grandy said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
