A man is facing several charges, including kidnapping, after authorities say he assaulted a Lyft driver in Lemon Grove.

A woman driving for Lyft was kidnapped Sunday evening while giving a rideshare to a man in East County, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators said the woman texted 911 shortly after she picked up her fare at about 9:30 in Spring Valley and brought the suspect to a marijuana dispensary in the 3500 block of Harris Street in Lemon Grove.

In her SMS, the driver told emergency dispatchers that her passenger, later identified as Shane Capezio, 23, told her he had a gun.

When deputies arrived at the dispensary, they found the pair struggling inside her vehicle and quickly separated them, then arrested Capezio. The woman was not that seriously injured, according to investigators.

A search of Capezio and the vehicle failed to turn up a weapon, according to SDSO.

Deputies said they arrested Capezio for kidnapping, robbery, false imprisonment, dissuading a victim and preventing a victim from calling 911. He's currently being held on $100,000 bail and is due in court in the El Cajon Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon.
