Due to the power outage, a few local beaches are closed due to a sewage spill.
As a result of the spills, the following beaches are closed: all beaches north of Scripps Pier through Del Mar and Solana Beach, Bayside Park in Chula Vista and the San Diego Bay area accessed from Silver Strand.
The power outage caused 3.2 million gallons of sewage to seep from a pump station into the Los Penasquitos Lagoon.
Another sewage spill was also reported at another pump near the I-5 and Hwy 54 which allowed 120,000 gallons to leak into the Sweetwater River, which flows into the San Diego Bay.
