The Southern California man who shot and killed two detectives in Santa Cruz was a criminal justice graduate of a local university and was once accused of committing sex crimes here in San Diego.
NBC 7 San Diego has learned that 35-year-old Jeremy Goulet graduated from San Diego State University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Goulet was shot and killed Tuesday in a gun battle with Santa Cruz police that resulted in the death of two veteran police officers.
Sgt. Loren Butch Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler were following up on Goulet’s recent arrest on sex charges when they were shot and killed by the suspect.
A co-worker alleged the Goulet went to her house and made inappropriate sexual advances.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports Goulet was cited for two misdemeanors in San Diego after he was allegedly caught "peeping.” Those complaints were made in 1999 and 2000.

In 2007, a mug shot from Portland Oregon shows lacerations made by a woman's boyfriend who accused Jeremy of spying on her in the shower.
Goulet was convicted of peeping and carrying a concealed weapon according to The Oregonian. However, he was acquitted of firing a gun.
He was put on probation but, after a dispute with his probation officer, was sentenced to two years in jail.
His father says that experience angered him and soured him on the American justice system.
Jeremy once told his father, he'd never be taken to jail again.
NBC Bay Area reports that Jeremy’s twin brother received a text message from the suspect Tuesday, after the two detectives had been killed. It read: "I’m in big trouble. I love you."
