Thanksgiving travelers started their holiday with delays at the San Diego International Airport due to weather across the country and other factors.
On the night before Thanksgiving, nearly 250 flights were delayed at the San Diego International Airport and 6 flights were canceled, according to the unofficial flight tracking website FlightAware. The delays were affecting flights entering and leaving the airport.
Travelers on Thanksgiving Day were also experiencing issues with more than 150 flights delayed by 6 p.m., although there were far fewer travelers across the country than Wednesday, according to the FAA.
Delays leveled out on Friday, which the FAA forecasted to be the second-least busy travel day for the Thanksgiving weekend. Thanksgiving Day was predicted to be the least busy while the Tuesday and Wednesday before and the Sunday after turkey day were expected to be the most busy with about 50,000 travelers each.

Heavy rain and snow in other parts of the country were cited for the delays, but there were no reported flight cancellations at the San Diego airport on Thanksgiving Day, according to the airline tracker FlightAware.
Due to weather, travelers are being asked to check their flight status before heading to the airport, according to SAN. Check flight arrivals here and departures here.

This Thanksgiving was expected to be a record-breaking holiday for air and road travel.
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority estimated that SAN would get about 460,000 people traveling through the airport between Tuesday and Sunday.
The airport authority estimates those numbers to be about 4% to 6% higher than last year's numbers at the same time. The absolute busiest times would be Tuesday and Wednesday before the holiday and the Sunday following.
Almost 80 million people are expected to travel by air and road this Thanksgiving, according to AAA. The Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving were expected to be the busiest times on the road.
As for across the country, the Transportation Security Administration is predicting 18.3 million travelers by air between from the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to the Monday after.
