A house fire sparked at a house in Linda Vista Thursday, sending several fire crews to the neighborhood.
The fire began at around 11 a.m. at a single-story home in the 6600-block of Valjean Court. When firefighters arrived, they could see smoke and flames stemming from the property.
A neighbor told NBC 7 he heard the sirens of a fire engine and ran outside. When he looked at his neighbor’s home, he saw dark, black smoke billowing from the vents on the roof.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson Monica Munoz told NBC 7 firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames.
No injuries were reported but Munoz said the Red Cross was called to the scene to help at least one resident displaced by the fire.
The neighbor said the home is undergoing renovations but one resident still lives there. He said the inside of the home had recently been remodeled and workers were currently working on the property’s exterior.
An SDFD battalion chief told NBC 7 the fire was contained to a bedroom but smoke damage impacted the entire home.
Local
Fire officials will investigate the cause of the blaze but the battalion chief said the fire did not appear suspicious in nature.
