Four people accused of burglarizing a home were taken into custody Saturday night after leading sheriff’s deputies on a short pursuit that started in Rancho Santa Fe and ended when the suspects crashed into a gate of a private community, authorities said.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department received a call from a neighbor who reported seeing three people attempting to enter a home in the 6800 block of Poco Lago around 7:42 p.m.

With the help of a helicopter, deputies spotted the suspects going through the canyon and getting into a waiting SUV that took off at a high speed, SDSO said in a press release on Sunday.

Deputies tried initiating a high-risk vehicle stop, but the vehicle sped away, triggering a pursuit.

The chase ended when the suspects slammed their SUV into a gate at 13000 Carmel Valley Rd., deputies said. The suspects got out of the car and fled on foot.

Deputies eventually found all four suspects, two of whom suffered K-9 bites and were taken to the hospital, SDSO's Lt. Martha Hernandez said.

SDSO recovered multiple stolen items from the suspect's vehicle, the agency said.

The suspects were arrested on multiple charges, including felony evading, residential burglary, possession of stolen property and resisting, and were booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

All four of them are scheduled for arraignment in San Diego on Thursday.

"The investigation is still in its preliminary stage and detectives are continuing to identify property and locate potential victims," SDSO's Lt. Lon Nguyen said in a statement to NBC 7 on Sunday. "It is too early to tell if these suspects were responsible for other burglaries in neighboring communities."
