A vegetation fire burned a field in a neighborhood in Spring Valley Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out in an area off the 9900 block of Jamacha Blvd. around 1:30 p.m. Video from SkyRanger 7 showed the fire threatening homes nearby in Lakeview Manor Mobile Lodge.

By about 3:15 p.m., fire crews gained control of the blaze, with firefighters remaining on scene to probe for hot spots.

A brush fire broke out near homes in Spring Valley Friday afternoon.

NBC 7 spoke with a spokesman for the San Diego Sheriff's Department a bit earlier, who said the blaze began in a shed in the backyard of the home, and that fire soon spread to some trees and nearby brush. The flames then followed the fuedl to the east, prompting deputies to evacuate around a dozen homes.

No residential structures sustained damage, though, the spokesman said, nor were any injuries reported.

The cause of the fire was not known. No other information was immediately available.
