While San Diego County saw warm temperatures throughout the weekend, a shift in the weather pattern is expected to bring rain and possible thunderstorms this week, forecasters said.
The storm first showed its effects with cloudy skies and cooler temperatures Monday. Some spotty showers touched down overnight Tuesday and were expected to linger off-and-on through at least Wednesday before heavier showers moved in, NBC 7 Meteorologist Sheena Parveen said.

By Thursday night, a larger storm will bring a chance for heavier rainfall, flash flooding, elevated surf and much cooler temperatures. The heaviest showers with the potential to create thunderstorms in the region are expected overnight Thursday and Friday, Parveen said.

By the time the storms are through, San Diego may get more than two inches of rain in some parts of the county, particularly along the coast, Parveen said.
Looking ahead to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, conditions look to be dry, for now, and daytime highs will be near seasonal norms, forecasters said.
