Gaslamp Rooftop Bar The Nolen Reopens After Makeover
Perched on the 14th floor rooftop of the Courtyard San Diego Gaslamp hotel, The Nolen is celebrating its fourth anniversary with a refresh from Basile Studio, the design firm behind high-profile projects like Born & Raised. In terms of atmosphere, the space now features new furniture that includes additional seating that capitalizes on the bar’s view of the city skyline and waterfront. In the kitchen and bar, patrons will find a new menu of cocktails and small bites.
URBN Pizza Expands to One Paseo
The new shopping and dining complex in San Diego’s North County adds yet another member to its roster of restaurants with the recent opening of URBN Pizza. It's the fifth location for the eatery, which serves New Haven-style coal-fired pizza with toppings that range from fresh clams to mashed potatoes and bacon. The full-service restaurant and bar includes an adjacent quick-service eatery offering coffee and pizza by the slice.
Breakfast Pros Announce Gaslamp Brunch Hub
The owner of the Breakfast Republic empire is bringing a new spot – also focused on morning eats – to the Gaslamp. Due in early 2020, Gaslamp Breakfast Company will feature a menu of brunch classics, from omelets and scrambles to sweet and savory waffles, pancakes, and French toast, along with cocktails based on fresh fruit and vegetable juices.
Pure Project Brewing Taps Carlsbad Tasting Room
Pure Project, the Miramar-based brewery that opened a tasting room in Bankers Hill over the summer, is headed next to North County. Pure at The Village will land on State Street in the heart of Carlsbad by late spring of 2020; the 2,000-square-foot satellite tasting room will also include a small on-site brewing component.
Deep Dish Pizza Specialists Debut in Hillcrest
Bay Area chain Patxi's Pizza launches in Hillcrest later this month. The eatery, which also has outposts planned for Eastlake and Chula Vista, is known for its Chicago-style deep dish pizza but its menu also offers thin-crust Neapolitan-style pizza, flatbread sandwiches, and other Italian-inspired dishes.
