Sheriff's deputies arrested a man who was reportedly waving a gun around and threatening suicide after an hours-long standoff in Santee.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department (SDSO) engaged the man just after 6:30 p.m. in an open field on the 8400 block of Graves Avenue south of Prospect Avenue.
The suspect was taken into custody just after 11 p.m., deputies said.
An SDSO crisis negotiation team was called to the scene, as were SDSO SWAT personnel and units from the El Cajon Police Department.
A tweet from the SDSO account described the suspect as suicidal and said nearby residents were being asked to shelter in place.
No other information was available.
