With miles of pristine shoreline and views you won’t soon forget, it’s no surprise that Coronado Beach is a favorite spot among travelers – so much so that it’s landed on a list of the top 25 beaches in the United States.
Online travel giant TripAdvisor announced the winners Tuesday for its “Travelers’ Choice Award” for best beaches. On the company’s list of “Top 25 Beaches in the U.S.,” Coronado Beach snagged the No. 16 spot.
One recent TripAdvisor review of the local beach noted the “miles and miles of public beach with no admission fee” as a draw, as well as the clean sand, dog park section and nice restrooms.
Another review said, in part: “A spacious stretch of sand that makes a journey out to Coronado Island worth it. I didn’t get what the big deal about Coronado Island was until we hit the beach.”
“Ideal spot for beachcombers looking for shells or sand dollars,” another reviewer wrote. “Plenty of space for everyone and you did not feel crowded at all.”
Coronado Beach – located along Ocean Boulevard on Coronado Island – is popular among surfers, as well as those looking to take a stroll on the sand. It’s set against the backdrop of one of San Diego’s most iconic landmarks: Hotel Del Coronado. Parking is free along Ocean Boulevard.
According to TripAdvisor, the winners on the list of “Top 25 Beaches” were determined based on the quantity and quality of traveler reviews and rating for beaches on the website gathered over a 12-month span.
