Brooke Landau is an Emmy-Award Winning Weather Anchor, Reporter & Fill-in News Anchor for NBC 7 San Diego.
You would never know it but behind Emmy Award Winner Brooke Landau's striking presence is one of the most extraordinary and unprecedented medical survival stories. Having survived congenital heart disease and open-heart surgery as a child, Brooke learned how to persevere from an early age. But her greatest challenge came years later when she woke up paralyzed for unexplained reasons. This began her more than 18 year battle with Lyme Disease. Brooke lost her ability to walk, hearing, short-term memory, and survived numerous life-saving surgeries including a one-of-a-kind experimental procedure that saved her. Brooke’s unbelievable triumph has been featured on Today, Good Morning America, Discovery Channel, Mystery ER, Dr. Phil, Extra, NBC, Fox, CW and various networks nationwide.
Brooke came to NBC 7 with over a decade of television experience. She traveled the country as a Feature Reporter on ESPN covering the Triple Crown Coverage and as Co-Host of their Breakfast Show. She was also Producer for the E! True Hollywood Story, interviewing dozens of celebrities and high profile athletes.
Brooke moved to San Diego for a position as ABC’s first Traffic Anchor, helping to bring the network's morning show to #1 for the 1st time in 11 years. Then Brooke spent the next 11 years at the CW Network as Weather Anchor and Anchor for the 10 p.m. news. She was also Co-Host of the lifestyle show San Diego Living. There she also hosted and self- produced San Diego’s only medical show, Brooke’s Medical Minutes.
Brooke’s background is diverse and unique. Prior to her journalism career Brooke carried several management positions at Fortune 100 companies. She always had an inner strength and drive. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Brooke beat out thousands of candidates nationwide for a highly coveted management position with Coca-Cola. After falling gravely ill, she didn't give up. Her unrelenting motivation landed her additional management positions at Fortune 500 Corporations: Nabisco, Timex, Warner Bros., and 20th Century Fox. And even while bedridden for over a year, Brooke founded the Children's Alliance Network (C.A.N.) - a non-profit organization to help sick children nationwide.
Spotted in a store by a New York fashion designer, Brooke was offered a modeling contract and soon became a familiar figure at couture fashion shows walking the runway for world renowned designers: Ralph Lauren, Nicole Miller, Gucci, Valentino and more. Brooke made her move into broadcast television as Host of the 1997 Bob Marley Festival for MTV. Her entry into news was far from ordinary. Brooke pitched and co-produced her personal medical saga for Fox 11 News Los Angeles, helping to land the network the 2002 Emmy.
Brooke later won an Emmy for her Weathercasting in 2009. She’s a versatile journalist with experience in weather, traffic, anchoring, hosting, sports and entertainment. When she's not busy in front of the camera, Brooke is a National Spokesperson delivering motivational speeches for the American Heart Association, various Lyme organizations, Bayer, Coca-Cola, IBM, and many others.
