American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez visited her hometown of Chula Vista on Saturday.
The festivities welcoming the 16-year-old singing sensation back home included a short procession and a mini concert for fans at Eastlake High School stadium at 1120 Eastlake Parkway.
The procession into the school began around 10:15 a.m., with onlookers holding homemade signs cheering for Sanchez from the sidelines.
Sanchez performed a few songs for the crowd around 11:15 a.m. before wrapping up her appearance.
The teen continued her homecoming celebration at the Midway Museum at 2 p.m.

City leaders including County Supervisor Greg Cox and San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders were invited to present proclamations honoring the singer.
Additional bands including the U.S. Navy Band also performed.

The plan was for Sanchez to depart the flight deck in a helicopter, bound for Hollywood, to prepare for her next appearance on American Idol on Wednesday.
