A jury determined Wednesday a Yuma police officer is guilty of multiple felony sex crimes he is accused of committing in San Diego last year.
Jared Elkins, 33, was found guilty of forcible rape, two counts of forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by use of force in connection with a Sept. 14, 2017, incident.
He was found not guilty on four other charges alleging sex crimes against an intoxicated victim.
He faces 14 years in state prison and his sentencing is scheduled for March 8, 2019, Deputy District Attorney Lisa Fox said.
Elkins pleaded not guilty to the charges according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
The 7-year veteran officer was on paid administrative leave according to a Yuma Police Department spokesperson.
Records show Elkins was booked into jail after his arrest Sept. 15 in the Kensington area of San Diego.
