A brush fire started burning in a canyon near Mount Soledad Saturday afternoon in the 5500 block of Caminito Genio, San Diego Fire-Rescue confirmed.
Federal, Miramar and Coronado fire departments are assisting, and three helicopters are making drops. It was quickly doused.
The fire burned roughly one acre, San Diego Fire-Rescue said.
"Very scary. Very grateful for them to have taken care of it so fast," Kathleen Pihl said.
This is the second brush fire in this canyon in as many days. Another brush fire burned less than an acre in the same area Friday.
That fire was caused by a homeless campfire. It was unclear what caused Saturday's fire.
While the fire was not very big, it still has neighbors on Mount Soledad very worried.

"Quite frankly, I think most of the neighborhood is fearful of sleeping at night," Pihl said. "If this is truly caused by homeless encampment, which was what we were told yesterday as being the cause of the fire, that if were to happen in the middle of the night when we were all sleeping and it's dark. Nobody would see the smoke or call 911 in time."
